My name is Rachael Charalambous and I am a Watercolour and Acrylic artist. You could say I have been interested in art and craft all my life. My grandma taught me to knit a scarf when I was 6 years of age and since then I have been on the creativity trail. I studied art at secondary school and spent a lot of time at the National Gallery of Victoria during my year 12.

I have worked at screenprinting and embroidery companies during school holidays growing up, helping in the factory and packing garments.I also studied ceramics and psychology after leaving secondary school. I left school just as the 1990 recession hit and had a terrible time finding a job, however I got a job with a dentist in Melbourne and then studied dental assisting where I passed the course with flying colours. Some of my best friends I have met at work.

I decided to have watercolour painting lessons with a local artist as I initially wanted to create some artwork for my home.It was one of the best decisions  I made as I have learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.  I have also attended workshops with renowned artists. Its amazing what we learn from each other. I enjoy painting florals and birds but will paint anything. I feel flowers make people happy and I love their vibrant colours. I take most of my own reference photos usually from my family's garden and gardens I see during my lunchtime walks. I particularly love native Australian flowers as they are special to our country.

Apart from art, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children, playing tennis and catching up with friends.
